is the one you have with you. These days it's probably your mobile phone.

I was the one in the family who often complained about the poor quality of photos taken with mobiles and praised decent cameras. Have bought a lot of them over the years. Loved them really. Still do so.

But. The first event who let me think about that whole thing was a talk of a well known austrian professional photographer at a photography and adventure exhibition, where he asked his audience of enthusiastic photographers, what they think is the perfekt camera to make photos on a city tour. They expected him to talk about some type of Leica or Hasselblad. Instead he grinned, reached into his pocket and presented an iphone to his perplexed audience. He envisioned a scene, where they walk trough a city all the day. Asked them, what they would take with them from their photography gear. For sure, a decent camera, with good lenses? Not one lense, some of them, to have the option to change? What would that weigh? If they would hold the expensive camera in their hands all the day, walking through the city? Or would they store it into the camera bag to protect it? How long would it take to get the camera out of the bag? Silence followed. He grinned again took the mobile into his shirt pocket, got it out again. Smiled. See? The best camera is the one, you have in your hands when you need it.

I still love my decent cameras. Like to plan to make some photos, maybe from my grandsons. Maybe from a speacial theme I plan to shoot. But over the years I more and more got rid over the habbit always wanting to have them by hand. I accepted, that the photographer at the talk was right. What you have at hand, ist that thing, that let take you the photo NOW. And that's a mobile in these days. Especially when looking at the quality these devices make with nearly having no lense (in the sense of an old style photographer). So I enjoy that option we have now. Let me make photos, I otherwise never would have - in the absence of a decent camera.

Sometimes the photos are astonishingly well, sometimes they lack the quality I would like to have, sometimes they are poor. But overall, I had the opportunity, to try it. Had a photo at all.

So, yesterday we had a little walk to get some doner. It was a clear evening after a sunny day. The moon was shining through the branches of the old trees in front of the primary school. Looked lovely. Took some photos.

Not only me

At home a white dot to the right side of the moon caught my eye. Had a look at the Sky Map app. And see - I had captured Jupyter!

Today we visited our beloved bookstore "Seeseiten" (https://blog.seeseiten.at/) to get some books we had ordered. The nice thing there is you also get coffee and some cakes.

At Seeseiten

Afterwards we made a little roundtrip with our bikes through Seestadt and had a rest in the sunny side of the lake, looking to the south at the first built part of Seestadt.

Looking at Seestadt

Yes, at the bike trip I could have taken a camera with me. But the primary target was the bookstore. And yesterday we only wanted to get some doner. So, I'm glad that I had my mobile with me (probably most of us do the same) and I could take these photos. Not perfekt, but they remind me on some pleasing moments.
