The most easy one to argue was "Too many things had happened in the last weeks so there was barely time and mood to post". Sure, that was one reason. But when I looked back at my recent posts I saw that they grew more and more negative. I was - in some way - replicating the mood of the world (too pathetic? Maybe).
I also thought of "why providing AI scrapers with my posts?". But on the other side: May they choke on my irrelevant musings, my non-native, imperfect english :-)
Another reason was that I wasn't clear what drove me to post at all. When I first started with rundumadum.at I wanted to promote my 360-Panoramas. I needed a place to show them to the community and to potential customers. That urge declined over the years. For a long time my website "slept". During wintertime 2025/2026 I felt the mood to revive it again. It should be an alternative to all the fenced social media sites I had used over the time. I started. More or less without a concept. I thought "Now its only my personal place, so I need no concept." That turned out to be not very motivating.
I did a few posts, paused again. So here we are. No more posts? That's also no solution. So, what feels important to me? What would satisfy me, if I write a post about it?
I appreciate the daily bloggers like Dave Rogers (https://nice-marmot.net/) or Jack Baty (https://baty.net). But that's not me. I feel no urge to post about my daily life. I don't want communicate that to others. But wat else?
There came a few categories to my mind:
- On and off I like taking photos.
- I like camping and canoeing.
- I regularely do taiji.
- I'm interested in Origami.
- I can't deny my past - some posts about IT (Data security, AI, using Linux, MacOS)?
- I love reliable, sturdy tools.
That should be enough to create some posts without lamenting about all the mess in the world (which others can do much better than me).
Some more general thoughts:
- It will not be like a traditional blog. I will post a date in the header, but it will not always be the date when I posted it. Sometimes it will be the date when the event occured (even if it's 10 years ago). So be warned :-)
- I'm not limiting the scope of my posts - there's no real theme for rundumadum.at - except maybe that I've always been interested in all sorts of things (rundumadum), and that could be one such topic.
- There is no guarantee of regular posts!
- Some posts will be english, some german, some will be both.
So, that are the plans for the future. But these plans have always been reliably altered by the future itself. :-))
